Crop PDF pages
Trim the white margins of a PDF or cut a page down to the part you need. Drag the corners of a frame over a preview of the page, then crop every page the same way or just the one you are looking at. It all runs in your browser, so your PDF is never uploaded.
How to crop a PDF
Crop a PDF online without uploading it
Scanned pages often come with wide gray borders, slides exported to PDF can have thick white margins, and a page of a report may hold one table you want to send on its own. Cropping cuts each page down to the part that matters, so it fills the screen on a phone and prints without the empty edges.
Most online tools do this by uploading your file. This one does not: the PDF is read from your device, the preview is drawn in your browser and the cropped copy is saved back to your device. One PDF of up to 60 MB and 500 pages can be cropped at a time, and there is no account or watermark.
Trim PDF margins with the crop frame
When you drop a PDF, its first page appears with a frame around the whole page. Drag any of the four corners to move the edges in, or drag inside the frame to move it without changing its size. Everything outside the frame turns dark, which is the part that will be cut off. The corners are big enough to grab with a finger on a phone, and on a computer you can also select a corner with the Tab key and move it with the arrow keys.
Under the preview you see the size the page will have after cropping, in millimeters, so you can aim for a size such as A5 or a square. Reset frame puts the frame back around the whole page. The Crop PDF button waits until the frame is smaller than the page, because otherwise there would be nothing to crop.
Crop all pages or just one
Apply to all pages is the default, and it is what you want for a scan or a document where every page has the same margins. The frame you draw on the first page is used for every page. On pages of another size it covers the same share of the page, so a frame that trims 10 percent from each side does that on every page. Rotated pages are cropped as you see them in a PDF reader.
Choose This page only when one page needs different treatment, such as a chart you want to cut out of a report. Arrows appear under the preview so you can go to that page, and only that page is cropped. To crop several pages in different ways, crop one, download it, then drop the new file and crop the next page.
What cropping does not change
Cropping changes the visible area of a page, not what is inside it. Text, images and links are copied as they are, so text can still be selected and searched and images keep their quality. The new file is named after the original with -cropped added, so scan.pdf becomes scan-cropped.pdf, and your original file is not changed.
The part outside the frame is hidden, not erased. Every PDF reader shows only the cropped area, but the hidden content stays in the file and can be brought back with a PDF editor. To cover private details for good, use a tool that removes them rather than one that crops. To remove whole pages instead of cutting their edges, delete PDF pages does that, and rotate PDF turns pages that are the wrong way round.
