Delete pages from a PDF
Remove blank pages, old drafts or the pages someone else should not see. Every page of your PDF shows as a thumbnail, you press ✕ on the ones to drop, and Save PDF gives you a new file without them. It runs in your browser, so the PDF is never uploaded.
How to delete pages from a PDF
Delete pages from a PDF without uploading it
A scanner adds a blank page after every sheet, a report still has last year's draft pages at the back, or a statement holds one page you would rather not send. Deleting those pages should not mean handing the whole document to a website. Here the PDF is opened in your browser tab, the pages are shown and removed there, and the new file is made on your device. Nothing is uploaded, and the file you started with is not changed.
Drop one PDF of up to 60 MB and 300 pages. Every page appears in a grid as a small picture with its page number under it, so you remove pages by looking at them rather than by guessing numbers. The thumbnails are drawn one after another, and you can start deleting on the first pages while the rest are still loading.
How to remove pages from a PDF
Each page card has a ✕ button. Press it and the page fades, gets a Deleted badge and a Restore button. It stays in its place in the grid, so you can still see what you are about to remove. Restore undoes it for that page. Above the grid a counter keeps track, for example 10 of 12 pages kept.
Removing a page does not change the order of the others: the pages that are left keep their order in the new file. If you also want to move pages or turn one that came out sideways, the same cards have arrows to move a page and ⟳ to rotate it a quarter turn clockwise. Start over closes the file without saving anything.
You cannot delete every page, because a PDF needs at least one. When all pages are marked Deleted, the save button says Keep at least one page. Press Restore on the page you want to keep and the button works again.
Remove a range of pages from a long PDF
Pressing ✕ works well for a handful of pages. To drop a large block, say pages 41 to 60 of a 120 page document, it is quicker to say which pages to keep. Split PDF does that with a page range: type 1-40, 61-120 and you get a new PDF without pages 41 to 60. Split PDF also handles files of up to 500 pages, more than the 300 pages shown here.
To pull a few pages out into their own file, rather than remove them, extract PDF pages saves just the pages you name as a new PDF and leaves the original as it is.
Save the PDF without the deleted pages
Press Save PDF when only the pages you want are left. The new file is named after the original with -organized added, so statement.pdf becomes statement-organized.pdf, and its size is shown next to the download button. The pages you deleted are not copied into it, so the file is usually smaller than before.
The pages you keep are copied as they are, not turned into pictures. Text that could be selected and searched before still can be, and images keep their quality. Some long PDFs have a list of bookmarks in the sidebar of a PDF reader; that list is not carried over. A PDF that needs a password to open has to have the password removed first, for example by printing it to a new PDF. If you know the password, unlock PDF removes it in your browser.
