Rotate PDF pages
Turn sideways or upside-down pages the right way up. Press ⟳ on a page to rotate it 90 degrees clockwise, as many times as it needs, then save a new PDF. The rotation is saved in the file, so it opens the right way in any PDF reader. Your PDF is never uploaded.
How to rotate a PDF
Rotate PDF pages without uploading
Phone scans and office scanners often save a page sideways, and a landscape table in a portrait report is easy to get wrong. Most PDF readers can turn the view for a moment, but the next person who opens the file sees the page the wrong way again. This tool fixes the file itself, in your browser. The PDF is read from your device, the pages are turned there, and the new PDF is made there too, so nothing is uploaded.
Drop one PDF of up to 60 MB and 300 pages. A thumbnail of every page appears in a grid, in the order of the document, with its page number under it. The thumbnails are drawn one by one, so you can start on the first pages of a long file straight away.
How to rotate pages in a PDF
Every page card has a ⟳ button. One press turns that page a quarter turn clockwise, and the thumbnail turns with it so you can see the result. A small badge on the card shows the angle you have added: 90°, 180° or 270°. A fourth press brings the page back to where it started and the badge goes away.
To turn a page counterclockwise, press ⟳ three times. To fix a page that is upside down, press it twice. Each page has its own angle, so in one go you can turn page 2 clockwise, page 5 the other way and leave the rest alone.
There is no button that turns every page at once. If the whole document came out sideways, press ⟳ on each page; the cards are small, so a few dozen pages take a short while. The same cards also let you move a page with the arrows or remove it with ✕, if the file needs more than turning.
Saved in the PDF, not just in the preview
When you press Save PDF, the new angle is written into each page of the file, the same setting a PDF reader uses when it saves a rotated page. That means the PDF opens the right way up on a phone, in a browser, in email previews and when you print it, not only on this screen. The rotation is added to any angle a page already had, so a page that was stored at 90 degrees and gets one more press ends up at 180.
The thumbnails already show each page the way it is stored, so a page that looks sideways in the grid is sideways in the file. Turn it until the thumbnail looks right and the saved PDF will match what you see.
Only the angle changes. The content of the page is not redrawn as a picture, so text can still be selected and searched, images keep their quality and the page keeps its size.
Download the rotated PDF
The new file is named after the original with -organized added, so scan.pdf becomes scan-organized.pdf, and its size is shown before you download. The file you started with is not changed. A PDF that needs a password to open cannot be rotated until the password is removed.
Rotating is one part of organize PDF, which also puts pages in a new order and deletes the ones you do not need. To turn a photo rather than a PDF, use rotate image.
